”Now I need a place to hide away, oh I believe in yesterday”

(The Beatles)

My dream date includes a night under the stars, music and a special someone. The night of April 28th included that and four special ones to chose from…

I’ve always heard The Beatles ’cause my dad is quite a big fan. I sang to so many  of their songs , which by the time didn’t made sense to me, but always seem to put a smile on my face and kept me going. Then I grew up and chose my own music; they weren’t included. About one and half year ago, I was with my coworkers celebrating in this party and the host hired this band called The Jukebox. I suddenly remember my dad bragging about how wonderfully they portrait The Beatles and their music. Could it be my childhood comeback? Fortunately, that night and every other show of them I attended after, mon petit moi smiles, dances and kept me going. So may I introduce to you the act you’ve known for all these years… Jacob, Heriberto, Juan Carlos and Francisco are The Jukebox, the puertorican Beatles.

That 28th Friday night was beyond special for me, the audience and the band. The sky all full of stars, a chilling yet warm breeze, the wet grass under our feet, friends, The Beatles and a symphony drove the audience in magical mystery tour through the fab four greatest hits.  The first part of the evening began with The Jukebox,  flying solo and warming the audience with some of the Beatles’s classic tunes like Help,  I saw her standing there, Rollover Beethoven, Boys, Yesterday, Twist and Shout, Can’t buy me love and many others. Happy faces, clapping, dancing…  For the second part of the evening, the Conservatory of music’s symphony join the puertorican Fab Four for a journey through the ,what I like to call, hippie Beatles tunes such as I am the walrus, Eleanor Rigby, Let it be, Something, St Pepper lonely heart club band, Penny Lane, Golden Slumbers/Carry that weight/The end, Here comes the sun and others.  A threatening rain fell forcing some of the audience to flee before the concert ended. Let me tell you, this was the most meaningful part of the night ’cause the ones who did’nt care of getting wet, took refugee on stage alongside the band and help them finish all in one voice a “goes along with the moment”  kind of song, All you need is love and in the end the love we took was equal to the love we make.

…Oh you’re still wondering which one I chose?…. There is an emptiness in this world we live now so corrupted, full of hatred and injustice. There is a thirst of surrounding of all of those memories and things that reminds of a better time. Music is the universal language for expressing feelings, beliefs and hope and for some reason is the one we heard on our childhood which makes us go to that comfortable place. For me is The Beatles, for some others is Elvis Presley, for a very “special group of people” is Menudo and that’s why tribute bands such as The Jukebox, VIVA THE KING are so successful these days; people need, now more that ever, to be every once in a while in a happy place. A toast to the greatest music ever and for many more childish nights to come.  … Oh, right…No reply.
